More changes afoot, electrical safety checks are planned to become mandatory in England and have been put to Parliament for the first time.
From July last year, landlords already need a valid Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) to create new tenancies. From April 2021, the rules will expand to all ongoing tenancies.
Valid for 5 years, the report covers the electrical fixtures, fittings and any fixed equipment, like boilers or hard-wired smoke alarms. This can be arranged through our qualified PROPERTY FIX team.
Landlords failing to comply with the new requirement could face a fine of up to £30,000. The new rules will be enforced by the local authority.
